The tale of a SX-70 (Part I)

✦ I was born in a factory in 1972. It was a long time ago but the tingle I felt at that time was yesterday to me.
Sitting on the conveying belt, I was thrilled to head to an open road, picturing the life ahead –
the anxiety fused with eagerness that I was about to step into a new world made me bloom.
And the life ahead didn’t fail me. I was the display where everyone was fascinated by my smash appearance.
When a family finally picked me up and brought my home,
I became a new addition for them together with their new born baby.

✦ A new chapter of my life began.
I experienced all the moments with them and captured the split-second of their joy and laughter –
birthdays, family trips, Christmas – I was there to be their witness, recording how a baby grew into a handsome boy,
how a family weathered time and age.
Through me, the moments transformed into pictures after pictures instantly wherever we were.
♡ The excitation of what future would hold with this young boy lit me up,
and I was ready to accompany him for the years to come.

✦ The boy grew into a fine man, but I was no longer by his side.
In times different gadgets and designs emerged to find their places in this world,
I was slowly drifting away. I worn myself out inside a storage box and I could feel my parts inside me quiver, asking a way out.
I was reminiscing when suddenly he was packing and rearranging all the boxes -
It was time to move. My box was sitting on the cold hard ground while everything else has found their way forward.
I wondered how the unexpected always knocked you sideway,
and no one was there to catch me when I fell out of this modern world.
